Think of a time you broke something valuable or meaningful to you. What happened, and why did it affect you so deeply?
How would you explain to someone what it means to be “broken” before God? What would you say is the benefit of brokenness?
Read Matthew 5:3. What do you think Jesus means when He says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit”? How does recognizing our deep need for God change the way we see ourselves and approach Him?
Read Ephesians 2:8–9. Why do you think people often try to earn God’s love instead of simply receiving it as a gift? In your own words, how would you describe God’s grace?
Read Psalm 51:17. What is the difference between a proud heart and a broken, repentant heart? What are some real-life examples of each from your own life?
Read Matthew 7:22–23. Why is having a real, close relationship with Jesus more important than simply doing good religious things? What are some signs that you may be focused more on performing for God than personally knowing and following Him?
Read 2 Corinthians 4:7. How can our weakness or brokenness become a way for Christ’s power and light to shine through us? Can you think of a time God used something difficult in your life to draw you or others closer to Him?
Read James 4:6. Why do you think God gives grace to the humble but opposes the proud? When you think about the people you enjoy being around most, what makes humility more attractive than pride?
Read Romans 3:23–24. How does knowing everyone has sinned help you see your need for Jesus? Does this truth lead you to repentance and humility, or do you sometimes compare your sin to others and think yours isn’t as serious?
Read Gospel of John 15:5. What are some signs that show you are staying close to Jesus? What are some signs that show you may be drifting away from Him? What do you do to get yourself back on track when you drift?
PRAYER OPTIONS: Practice praying out loud to grow your faith—even if it feels uncomfortable. Try it with people you trust and feel safe with.
Share one thing you are thankful for (a praise) and one thing you need prayer for (a request). Then pray together for each other’s requests.
Prayer Partnership: What’s on your heart that we can partner with you and bring it to the Lord?
Read and put into practice James 5:13-16. Pray for the sick, praise Him for everything, confess your sins, pray for physical, spiritual and emotional healing.
Praise Sentences: Short prayers thanking God, then pray for shared needs.
Prayer Clusters: Groups of 2–3, share requests, pray together, and encourage each other during the week.
