MESSAGE: I Believe in Miracles WEEK #2

SERIES: Jesus Story: Messiah

COMMUNICATOR: Pastor Kevin Geer

CHECKIN’ IN: How is your week? What was one of the highlights? Share wins (things God did that moved his mission forward and you closer to Jesus). What did you put into practice from last week’s Devotional & Discussion?

THINK, DISCUSS, LIVE: These questions work well individually or in a group setting to  encourage spiritual growth, engage in biblical community and live it in the world around you.

  1. What is the most “mind blowing” thing you have ever seen or experienced? What made it so amazing to you?
  2. Have you ever struggled with this statement: “nothing is impossible with God”? What makes it so difficult to believe? Do you have an example from your life where God truly did something impossible for you?
  3. Read Luke 1:5-20; 26-38 What do we learn about Zechariah? What do we learn about Mary in these verses? Compare Zechariah’s encounter with the Angel Gabriel to Mary’s encounter? What is similar and what is different? Why do you think Zechariah was made mute and Mary was not?  What do we learn here about John?
  4. Look again at Luke 1:6-7, 13. Zechariah and Elizabeth were told they would have a son in their old age. Note: They still had to be intimate for this to happen. What is one challenging circumstance in your life that you need to trust God for and where do you still need to be faithful in your actions?
  5. God is true to his word! What are some promises and truths that you hold onto, that God has made known to you? Is there a Bible verse that substantiates this truth or promise that you hold onto?
  6. If an angel of the Lord showed up and told you, you have found “favor with God” what would be your thoughts or reaction? Would you believe him? Would you doubt his words about you? Why or why not?
  7. Have you ever given up on something too soon? A job, a hobby, an activity, a discipline or maybe a relationship? What was the situation? What was one outcome from your decision?
  8. Read Mark 4:35-41. A seemingly impossible situation. How many of your “crying out” prayers to God have gone unanswered? Friends and family not saved, kids not walking with Jesus, a physical ailment, or some other difficult situation? How has God’s word called you out for your lack of faith? What biblical truth do you need to trust in or a step of faith to take to move you forward?
  9. I am right where God wants me to be even though it doesn’t seem that way. Do you ever struggle with this truth? What life situation are you in right now that you need to trust God for because it seems impossible? Take time to pray for these situations.

  1. TRUTH DEMANDS A RESPONSE! What is one action step you will take this week in response to our discussion or nudge from the Holy Spirit? Be specific. _______________________________________________________________

2024 TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE: We have created some resources to help you grow. Check out the Experience God page. Let us know how it’s going.

INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP PRAYER OPTIONS:

    • Prayer Question: “What’s going on in our lives that we can involve Jesus?”
    • Ask:  What was one praise and one challenge you experienced this week? Celebrate the praises and pray for the challenges.
    • Ask if anyone has a need or knows of a need, you can also offer “unspoken” prayer requests.
  • Pray for the person on your right, it can be out loud or in silence, if in silence nudge the person next to you letting them know you are done.
  • Prayer Clusters: Groups of two or three (by gender) and share your week together. Pray together and for each other. Send them a text, or leave a message letting them know you have prayed for them this week.
  • Have someone in your group keep an active list of the requests and the answers for both the updates and to celebrate the answers.
