CHECK-IN & SHARE WINS: What was one highlight from your week? Where have you seen Jesus at work—in your life or in the world around you? Celebrating wins helps fuel God’s mission and inspire others to join in.
THINK, DISCUSS, LIVE: These questions are great for personal reflection, group discussion, or both. They’re meant to help you grow in your faith, deepen your connection with your Jesus friends, and live it out in the world around you.
- Which of the following frustrates you most about other drivers? (e.g., speeding, distracted driving, tailgating, failure to signal, other)
- Growing up, was there ever a time you were asked to do something outside your comfort zone? Maybe you hesitated at first, but then you went for it — and it turned out better than you expected. Can you share that experience?
- Read Matthew 28:18-20. Now that you’ve had time to reflect on Jesus’ authority and the authority He gives you, how does the next part of the Great Commission, to ‘go,’ empower you to live differently? Can you give a specific example of what that might look like in your life?
- How have your own experiences with God, the truths you’ve learned from Scripture, and the way you live out your faith given you confidence to share your Jesus story with others? Is there a particular experience or a specific truth you find yourself leaning on when you step out to share?
- If you were one of the 11 disciples hearing Jesus say, “Go and make disciples,” right before He ascended, how do you think you would’ve felt in that moment: Confident, scared, inadequate, confused or something totally different?
- Often we think of ‘calling’ as something mysterious or for the super spiritual. But the Bible shows our first calling is simply to follow Jesus and help others do the same. How does that shift your perspective? And what are some everyday examples of what it looks like for you to simply follow Jesus?
- When you hear the word “Go” in the Great Commission, what comes to mind? Do you think it is for missionaries, church staff, someone else and not you? Does it feel exciting, intimidating, confusing or maybe all of the above? What makes you feel this way?
- Read 1 John 2:4–5. How do you understand what John is saying here? On a scale of 1–10, how would you rate your spiritual integrity, the consistency between what you say about following Jesus and how you actually live it out? Can you give one example?
- God has given each of us unique gifts, personalities, and life experiences. Who in your life might God be asking you to ‘go’ to, someone you could reach in a way others might not? What part of your Jesus story do you think could connect with them, and why?
- In John 14:12, Jesus says that anyone who believes in Him will do the same works He has done — and even greater. How does that promise give you confidence to live out the Great Commission, even when it feels intimidating or beyond your ability? And what’s one step of faith you could take this week in light of that truth?
TAKING NEW GROUND! This week, take new ground by intentionally sowing spiritual seeds wherever life takes you at home, at work, at school, or out in the community. Look for simple opportunities to go. Start a conversation about Jesus. Invite someone to church. Watch a Canvas+ video or an episode of The Chosen with a friend and talk about what stood out. Share a piece of your own Jesus story in a natural, practical way. Take a step of faith this week—be intentional, be bold, and see how God works through you.
THE TRANSFORMATIONAL MODEL: Update where you are in the Canvas Circle, Jesus Friends Circle, and Lost Friends Circle. In what specific ways are you becoming more like Jesus, showing His love, and moving closer to the center of the diagram?
LOOKING FOR WAYS TO ENGAGE WITH SCRIPTURE CONSISTENTLY? We’ve put together a Bible reading plan to help you read through the entire New Testament in one year. Just one chapter a day, five days a week—plus a short bonus passage to reflect on. You can find it on the Canvas Church app—just tap “Bible Reading Plan.” Prefer to listen? That’s an option too! Join us on this life-changing journey with Jesus.
INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP PRAYER OPTIONS:
- Time to Pray: What’s one thing to celebrate and thank God for—and one thing to bring to Him in prayer?
- Praise Sentences: Take a moment to thank God in short sentence prayers—for who He is, what He’s done this week, and for people in your group. Let several people pray, even more than once. Then, pray for any needs shared, and close by thanking God for hearing you.
- Prayer Clusters: Meet in groups of two or three (same gender) to share praises and prayer requests. Pray together and for one another during the week. Let those in your group know you prayed—send a quick text of encouragement.
WORDS THAT IGNITE: Take a moment to slow down and really sit with the word GO. It’s more than a command—it’s a way of life. You could also read it, “As you are going…” meaning that wherever life takes you, you’re called to follow Jesus and help others follow Him too. It’s also a reminder that making disciples isn’t optional—it’s our responsibility. The people in your life—and even those you cross paths with—are not there by accident. God placed you in their lives for a reason: to point them to Him. You are His plan A!
