THINK, DISCUSS, LIVE: These questions are great for personal reflection, group discussion, or both. They’re meant to help you grow in your faith, deepen your connection with your Jesus friends, and live it out in the world around you.

  1. Looking back at Genesis 3, Why do you think hiding and shame comes so naturally to us—and what does that reveal about how we view God, or how we think He views us?

  2. Sin often looks appealing at first but ultimately leaves us empty. Where have you seen that play out in your own life or in others?

  3. The cross reveals both the depth of our sin and the greatness of Jesus’ love. Where do you find yourself downplaying your sin, doubting His love, or believing your sin is beyond forgiveness?

  4. How do you think God sees and responds to our sin? Disappointed, angry, neutral, gracious, or something else? How do you usually respond to your sin: hide it, justify it, confess it to others, condemn yourself, or bring it to God and repent?

  5. Read 1 Corinthians 1:18. How do most people in our culture view the cross today? How would you personally describe the cross—its purpose, its power, and what it makes possible in someone’s life?

  6. Take a moment to read Colossians 1:19–20; 2:13–15; and 1 Peter 2:24. What stands out to you as the common theme in these passages? How do these truths deepen or strengthen your faith in Christ?

  7. Read John 19:16b–30. As you reflect on what Jesus endured on the cross, what stands out to you most—and why? How does that shape the way you want to live moving forward?

  8. John 19:30 says, “It is finished.” What does it mean to you that your debt is fully paid and sin’s power is defeated? Why do we still struggle to believe or live like that’s true? (Also see 1 John 1:9).

  9. Read James 5:16. Hiding sin leads to bondage, but confession leads to freedom. What’s one step you can take this week to move from hiding to honesty before God and or others? Why is it often so hard to confess our sins to other believers?

PRAYER OPTIONS: Practice praying out loud to grow your faith—even if it feels uncomfortable. Try it with people you trust and feel safe with.

  • Prayer Partnership: What’s on your heart that we can partner with you and bring it to the Lord?

  • Read and put into practice James 5:13-16. Pray for the sick, praise Him for everything, confess  your sins, pray for physical, spiritual and emotional healing.

  • 1 & 1:  One thing to celebrate, one thing to bring to God.

  • Praise Sentences: Short prayers thanking God, then pray for shared needs.

  • Prayer Clusters: Groups of 2–3, share requests, pray together, and encourage each other during the week.
