SERIES:  Jesus Story: Daniel                                                     WEEK:5

MESSAGE:  Just In The Nick Of Time

COMMUNICATOR: Pastor Kevin Geer

CHECKING IN: How was your week? What was one of the highlights? Share wins (things God did that moved his mission forward and you closer to Jesus). What did you put into practice from last week’s devotional & discussion?

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER AND DISCUSS: These questions work well individually or in a group. The goal is to encourage spiritual growth, enhance biblical community and live it in the world around you.

  1. Share an impossible life situation that God made possible. What was it and what was the result? How did it strengthen your faith?
  2. Read Daniel 3:8-18. What would be your thoughts or feelings if you were in the same situation as Sadrach, Meshach and Abednego?  What was their response to the king? Do you think it was crazy or admirable? Why do you think this?
  3. How does their response exemplify an active faith? What does an active faith look like in your life context?
  4. The three friends of Daniel were in a very life threatening situation where it appeared God was nowhere to be found. What extremely challenging life situation are you praying for that has yet to be answered? Do you feel as if God has stopped listening to your prayers? Please explain.
  5. Read Daniel 3:24-26; 28-30. What did Nebuchadnezzar see in the fire? Who do you think was the fourth person in the fire? What was the response of the king?
  6. What are you waiting for God to do in your life or in the life of another? Are you and others praying for this outcome?
  7. As a group, pray to have a strong faith like Sadrach, Meshach and Abednego. What areas will you begin to pray in faith that have appeared to be impossible. Share those areas and or those people and together pray for them.
  8. Read Psalm 27:1-6. Look for and discuss some key words and phrases in this passage. Why are these words or phrases encouraging or comforting to you? How can you use these words or phrases to strengthen you in your current life difficulties?
  9. Read Psalm 27:13-14. How does this passage encourage you to keep trusting in the Lord? How do you define the “goodness of the Lord”? Share one recent example.
  10. TRUTH DEMANDS A RESPONSE! What is one action step you will take this week in response to our discussion or nudge from the Holy Spirit? Be specific. _______________________________________________________________

GROUP PRAYER OPTIONS:

    • Prayer Question: “What’s going on in our lives that we can involve Jesus?”
    • Ask:  What was one praise and one challenge you experienced this week? Celebrate the praises and pray for the challenges.
    • Ask if anyone has a need or knows of a need, you can also offer “unspoken” prayer requests.
  • Pray for the person on your right, it can be out loud or in silence, if in silence nudge the person next to you letting them know you are done.
  • Prayer Clusters: Groups of two or three (by gender) and share your week together. Pray together and for each other. Send them a text, or leave a message letting them know you have prayed for them this week.
  • Have someone in your group keep an active list of the requests and the answers for both the updates and to celebrate the answers.
