NEVER CHANGES

Message Series: Truth – Week# 1

Message: Never Changes

Communicator: Pastor Kevin Geer

Big Idea: What makes truth, truth is that it never changes

Central Text/s: Hebrews 13:8; John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23

Wins and Words of the Week: Take time to share WINS, (what God did) and WORD, (what God shared with you from His word) that moved you and others forward and closer to Jesus.

Ice Breaker: Talk about trends or fads that have come and gone in your lifetime? Which ones did you think or hoped would last forever?

Questions to Consider:

  1. In our current society, what are some basic truths that we are to follow?
  2. In John 14:6, Jesus declares he is the truth.  What are some examples of truth that doesn’t change and our society’s/culture’s/science’s declaration of truth that have changed over the years?
  3. Briefly tell us how the truth of Jesus changed your life? What scripture is your life’s anchor?
  4. What are some truths about God that encourage your heart to remain faithful?
  5. If truth demands a response, how have you seen freedom come from responding positively to truth?  When have you hardened your heart to truth and needed to repent?
  6. How can you know your life lines up with truth? What are some indicators?

Digging Deeper:

  1. When have you been challenged to be a citizen of heaven before being a citizen of earth?  Of the USA?  What are some distinctions between American freedom and Godly freedom
  2. As you seek to hold truth and love in tension, what is your default preference?  How can you grow in discipline in your weaker side?
  3. In John 8:31-32 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”? What teachings is Jesus telling us to remain faithful to? What is one area in your life that reveals you are a disciple of Jesus?
  4. What truth have you found yourself struggling to follow? Why do you think it is a struggle for you? What truth is difficult  for  you to walk in but easier for you to run from?
  5. We change, our society changes, our situations change, but the truth of Jesus never changes. How can you adjust your life to the truth of the gospel? I.e. Pray more intentionally, read your bible responding to its truth and or loving others the way Jesus does. How can we as a group come alongside each other to strengthen these truth adjustments?
  6. You initiate with love and you anchor in truth. Whose heart door can you open with love so they can hear and anchor in God’s truth?

Questions for Application:

  1. What specific steps will I/We take to live out what we just discussed?
  2. Who can we share this message or truth with? What is their name?
  3. Who are you praying for to know Jesus? What is their name?
  4. Who will I partner with to keep me accountable so I/We can grow?
