THINK, DISCUSS, LIVE: These questions are great for personal reflection, group discussion, or both. They’re meant to help you grow in your faith, deepen your connection with your Jesus friends, and live it out in the world around you.

  1. How would you describe your prayer life right now? Is it mostly praying before meals, asking God to bless your day, bringing Him a list of wants and needs, praying for others, very little prayer at all, or a mix of all of those? Please be specific.

  2. When you pray, how do you think God sees you, and what do you think His attitude toward you is when you come to Him? Disappointed? Angry? Longing to hear from you? Looking forward to answering your prayers?

  3. “Is prayer my steering wheel or my spare tire?” Does prayer guide and direct your daily life, or do you only turn to God when life gets hard or beyond your ability to handle?

  4. If someone could search your heart, what characteristic of Jesus would you hope they would find most clearly in you?

  5. Read Psalm 139:23–24. Why do you think it can be hard to ask God to search our hearts? What might keep us from being fully honest with Him or others?

  6. Read Jeremiah 17:10. Why is this truth both comforting and challenging? Explain why you think that.

  7. The word “intimacy” can mean “into me, see.” Who are the people you feel safe being real with? Why is honesty important in our relationship with God and others?

  8. Read Hebrews 4:13. How does it make you feel knowing that nothing about you is hidden from God? Does that bring peace, fear, freedom, or something else?

  9. “God won’t heal what I won’t reveal.” What are some things people try to hide instead of bringing into the light? How can hiding our struggles keep us stuck in our relationship with God and others?

  10. Read Romans 8:1. Why is it important to remember that there is no condemnation (no longer under the punishment their sin deserves) for those who belong to Jesus? How can that truth help us be more honest about our struggles?

  11. Read 1 John 1:7. What do you think it means to “live in the light”? What is one step you could take this week to be more open, transparent, honest, and connected with God or others?

  12. Make this your prayer this week: “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to You, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer” (Psalm 19:14).

PRAYER OPTIONS: Practice praying out loud to grow your faith—even if it feels uncomfortable. Try it with people you trust and feel safe with.

  • Share one thing you are thankful for (a praise) and one thing you need prayer for (a request). Then pray together for each other’s requests.

  • Prayer Partnership: What’s on your heart that we can partner with you and bring it to the Lord?

  • Read and put into practice James 5:13-16. Pray for the sick, praise Him for everything, confess  your sins, pray for physical, spiritual and emotional healing.

  • Praise Sentences: Short prayers thanking God, then pray for shared needs.

  • Prayer Clusters: Groups of 2–3, share requests, pray together, and encourage each other during the week.
