WORDS THAT IGNITE: Satisfied
- The most common Greek word for “satisfied,” particularly in the context of being filled with food or a spiritual need, is chortázō (pronounced khor-tad’-zo), Meaning: To feed or fill to satisfaction, to be fully satisfied. It literally refers to feeding with grass (like fattening cattle) but is used for people eating their fill (e.g., in the miracle of the loaves and fishes).
- This promise indicates that true satisfaction in life comes from a relationship with God and a total pursuit of His righteousness.
- How will you put this word into action and let it ignite your life this week?

THINK, DISCUSS, LIVE: These questions are great for personal reflection, group discussion, or both. They’re meant to help you grow in your faith, deepen your connection with your Jesus friends, and live it out in the world around you.
- What is your favorite type or brand of bread? What’s your favorite topping or spread?
- Read John 6:22-26. Why were the crowds chasing after Jesus? Why do you think it’s easy to follow Jesus for what He can give instead of who He is? Do you have an example of this from your life?
- Read John 6:27. How do you see the difference between being physically hungry and spiritually hungry in your own life? What do you typically reach for first to satisfy those hungers? (It can’t be a Snicker’s bar).
- Read John 6:28-30. Jesus said the work God desires is simply to believe in Him. How does that challenge your natural tendency to try to earn or achieve God’s favor? What would be an example from your life?
- Read John 6:30-36. Jesus declares, “I am the bread of life.” What does it mean for Him to be the source of true satisfaction in your life? What are some examples where Jesus brought satisfaction to your life?
- Jesus told His disciples to feed the crowd, but all they had were five loaves of bread and two fish. What small thing—your time, talent, or treasure—could you give for Jesus to use to bless others?
- In John 6:41-42. The crowd misunderstood Jesus’ miracles. Has there been a time when your own desires or plans kept you from seeing God at work in your life? What happened, and how did you re-align yourself with His will?
- Jesus in John 6:47-51 invites the “people” and us to seek eternal life rather than temporary satisfaction. What are some “perishable” things you’re tempted to rely on instead of Him?
- Read John 6:53-61. Why do you think people reacted so strongly to what Jesus said about his body and blood? Are there parts of God or His ways that feel strange, confusing, or even uncomfortable to you?
- In John 6:66-69, Peter said, ‘Lord, to whom would we go?’ How would you honestly respond if Jesus asked you that same question today? What would you tell someone who’s wrestling with their faith in Him?”
TAKING NEW GROUND: This week, notice how Jesus wants to satisfy you—not through success or stuff, but through Himself. Open His Word and let Him meet you right where you are. Trust that He’s enough for whatever you need. Here are some ideas:
- When something feels confusing or uncomfortable in your walk with God, pause and say, “Lord, I don’t fully get it—but I trust You.”
- Feed on and let God’s Word become your daily source of strength and direction.
- If you’re discouraged or tempted to quit—whether in faith, marriage, or ministry—choose to stay and let Jesus strengthen your resolve.
