THINK, DISCUSS, LIVE: These questions are great for personal reflection, group discussion, or both. They’re meant to help you grow in your faith, deepen your connection with your Jesus friends, and live it out in the world around you.

  1. If you had the power and authority to make one significant change in this world what would you choose and why?

  2. How does our culture typically define and display power and authority? In light of John 13:3–5, what does Jesus’ posture and actions teach us about what true greatness really looks like?

  3. In John 13:15, Jesus says, “I have given you an example… Do as I have done to you.” Is He calling us to literally wash feet — or to serve with the same humble, sacrificial love toward others or both? How does His example challenge the way you serve?

  4. Read John 13:21. Why do you think it is important that Jesus was emotionally troubled by the coming betrayal and yet he still chose to wash Judas’ feet? Would you have washed Judas’ feet? Why or why not?

  5. What does this teach us about loving people who hurt us? Why do you think Jesus speaks so strongly about forgiving those who wound us deeply? (See Matthew 6:15). What does this kind of forgiveness look like?

  6. Read Romans 5:10. When was the last time you honestly reflected on your life before following Jesus? How does remembering that we were once enemies of God reshape the way we see and treat those we may consider enemies today?

  7. Read John 13:35. If someone watched your life for a week—at home, work, school, or online—would love be the clearest evidence that you follow Jesus? In what ways do you show that kind of love?

Individually or as a group, take communion together. You don’t need the traditional elements—simply use something that can represent Jesus’ body and blood. Before you begin, read the following passage and reflect on the questions to help prepare your heart for this meaningful time. Then take communion.

  1. Read 1 Corinthians 11:23–26 What thoughts or feelings come to mind when you reflect on the fact that Jesus gave His life specifically for you? How might that change the way you see other people? What is one practical way this week you could sacrifice your time, comfort, or preferences in order to serve someone else well?

  2. 1 Corinthians 11:27–29. Before taking communion, where does your heart need honest examination? Is there any unforgiveness, pride, selfishness, withheld generosity, or another area that needs attention? Take time to bring it before God—and if needed, go to the person you need to forgive or ask forgiveness from, and seek to make it right with humility and grace.

PRAYER OPTIONS: Practice praying out loud to grow and stretch your faith. Extra Credit: Try praying out loud with the people who love you and feel safe.

  • Read and put into practice James 5:13-16. Pray for the sick, praise Him for everything, confess  your sins, pray for physical, spiritual and emotional healing.

  • Prayer 1 & 1:  One thing to celebrate, one thing to bring to God.

  • Prayer Partnership: What’s on your heart that we can partner with you and bring it to the Lord?

  • Praise Sentences: Short prayers thanking God, then pray for shared needs.

  • Prayer Clusters: Groups of 2–3, share requests, pray together, and encourage each other during the week.
