One of the ways we can know we are living a “greater than” life is by how we show an ever increasing overflow of love to others. Loving others is the “proof text” that our lives are strongly connected and with the heart of God, The Apostle Paul states it this way in 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13| “And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows. May he, as a result, make your hearts strong, blameless, and holy as you stand before God our Father when our Lord Jesus comes again with all his holy people. Amen.” This is what the “greater than” life looks like. As we overflow with God’s love onto others he continually fills us with more of himself. It is this constant filling with his Spirit that transforms us to be more like him and the blessings are ours in abundance.

1. Who do you know is excellent at showing love to others? What is it about them that makes them that way? 
2. What thoughts come to mind when you read that your love for others is an overflow of your love for God? (See John 13:34-35). 
3. Ask yourself, how well do I love people? What would my close friends say regarding how well I love them? 
4. What other observations do I have from the text?
