“Higher education is absolutely crucial to the success of the Church. Higher education is as much about teaching students HOW to think as it is about WHAT to think, and it is the development of these critical processing skills that separates those that successfully complete college and those that do not. As the world continues to push the boundaries of what is accepted as truth, we need an educated generation to rise up and skillfully separate the unwavering Truth from a culturally accepted facade.”

The objectives of the worship internship are to gain theological understanding of the purpose and practice of worship, for students to be more aware of their own gifts related to music, and learn the technical and administrative components of worship ministry.
The production internship emphasizes how healthy church culture shapes the ability of Production to create opportunities for people to experience God in a life-changing way. It will give students an overview of all major church production elements, and hands-on experience in a professional production environment.
Kristy Wilke joined the Canvas team in 2018 and is the Worship Pastor for the Kalispell Campus. She also works with YWAM and has been in full time ministry since 1992 with her husband Jeff. The goal of the Youth Internship is to understand the heart of everything that is done in youth ministry so that students feel seen, known – and what it looks like to live out their faith outside the walls of the church. This is demonstrated through games, worship, messages and small groups (at Canvas, we call them Crews).

Becca Wentworth leads the First Impressions/Environments Internship.
This internship is a one semester internship that exists to give students hands-on experience in creating welcoming environments for people to experience God in a life-changing way. Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming space – including friendly faces and free coffee – where people feel comfortable. A positive experience from the parking lot to the lobby allows people to engage in worship and allow the Holy Spirit to work in their lives.
This role requires a gift for connecting with new people – and Becca is the definition of extrovert! Her love for people is evident in the way she intentionally finds new faces and families at Canvas. She has volunteered at many large churches in the Seattle area, all in the areas of greeting and first impressions. Becca has been on the Canvas team since 2021 and her heart is to make people feel seen, needed and known.
